Fashion Faux Pas Of The Week: Christmas Jumpers

If you're wearing a christmas jumper, chances are you've got nothing to be festive about. They're garish, loud and in your face. Why would anybody think they look good in these?

There are some that are ok. For example jumpers with more subtle patterns or ones where the pattern only takes up the top quater of the jumper. EG:

However even better still is the range of heavy knit jumpers around in topman at minuet, things like this look so much more sophisticated and still fit in with the season trend.
Although my FAVORITE jumper in topman at the moment is this one with fit gunmeatal eyelets on the shoulder. Not festive at all but so much better.

Heritage

Think what you will about Tim Westwood, you can't deny he's got heritage.

Do the stankey leg???

One of the most beautiful tracks of the year, performed lived at the boiler room for Platform magazine. So so good.

I need to know who made this tune!!!! It's the biggest track out there right now. But the artist who made it wants to remain a mystery. (Tune starts proper 1min in)

Old Is New.

Right now i can't seem to get enough of the old. Be it old school Garage from 1998, Raw Dubstep from 2005 or classic Chicago House from 1986. There seems to be something so exciting about a genre when it's just starting out.

Many producers around at the moment are recreating the classic sounds of their genre in a contemporary fashion. For example Lone is making classic sounding house, while SBTRKT is making garage that's hard to tell if it's from 2000 or 2010. Even grime seems to have gone back to it's stripped down roots, with Artists like D-Double E and Trim achieving success at the moment by producing grime in it's most basic form. For now anyway, old seems to be very new.

Anyway the reason for this post was to share this documentary on the origins of house music that ran on channel 4 in 2001. It traces it right through from 1980 to 2001 and the emergence of garage. It's very interesting and provides a clear history on the cultural revolution that took place in youth culture during the 90s.

Top Knot Mix

I haven't done a mix in ages. The inspiration for this mix was girls who wear their hair in Top Knots. Done in one take and a bit rough and ready, but hope you enjoy.
